SWISS-AMERICAN SOCIETY
FOUNDED 1920 AS SFUSA - SWISS FRIENDS OF THE USA

WE SUPPORT YOUNG PEOPLE WHO WANT TO FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION IN THE USA WITH OUR CONTRIBUTIONS.

In addition to organizing attractive events, scholarships are the other very important commitment of the Swiss-American Society. Each year, SAS awards a total of 15,000 to 20,000 Swiss francs to five to seven scholarship recipients. The scholarship fund is financed through contributions of SAS members and various third parties. Between 2011 and 2021, we awarded 55 scholarships and were thus able to give young people the chance to study in the USA and get to know and appreciate the country.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Do you dream of studying or spending a semester abroad in the U.S., for example to work on your Master’s thesis?  Apply for our scholarships.

Life-changing Experiences

Here are some experiences from former students supported by a SAS scholarship.

Their thoughts:

«During my time at Stanford, I had the good fortune to work with many inspiring people. I met scientists from all over the world who are passionate about their work and who gave me new input for my career planning. I am very grateful for the support of the Swiss-American Society.»

Alicia Lipsky, former scholarship holder, 2015

«This is fantastic news! Thank you very much for this extremely generous contribution! Of course, it is an honor for me to become a member of the Swiss-American Society after graduation.»

«It would be difficult to exaggerate the importance of that scholarship for my professional development leading up to the doctorate 1958 and the subsequent 37-year-career at the World Bank.»
